Hello!  After a long career in various engineering fields I found I had an aptitude for painting, a chance to use the right side of my brain. I was born and raised in the Netherlands where I lived among the tulip fields of my area and gained a love for bright colors. I came to the USA in 1957 and served 4 years in the US Navy and "saw the world"
Living in the Napa Valley and having worked after my retirement as a winegrape inspector and bicycle tour guide I really enjoy showing off the beautiful scenery and colors of my valley. Much of my work includes vineyards, grapes and leaves and people that work the vineyards. I specialize in painting on wine barrel heads and staves. Over time I have done murals at wineries and private homes, decorated large bucksaws and many other items. I am very resourceful and love to work with individuals to make their wishes come true. That is Diego, my cockatiel, who loves me and a Dutch themed painting on my easel.
How does a wine barrel lazy susan come about?
The used barrels I buy at local wineries are French or American Oak and have been used to store wine for a number of years. I cut the heads off the barrels usually below the 2nd hoop, sand and stain the surface, tighten and reinforce the hoops with additional screws, install the rotating mechanism underneath and provide a hanger if it is to be hung on the wall. The paintings are one of a kind originals done with acrylic and sealed with several coats of a food safe poly urethane finish that can be wiped clean time and again.  The long three dimensional paintings are made from the left over staves and made to hang on the wall.
How do you buy from me?
Usually people pick out a design that appeals to them, we talk about it and I custom the painting to their liking.
I accept checks or Paypal and have shipped my art all over the US and once to Australia.
